BETA Statement
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This software is the first release to the public. Due to this, this
  software is labeled as BETA.

The software has been thoroughly tested by the author and other persons. If
you do find a problem or error please let me know. Contact me by using the
methods described at the beginning of this document.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Future Updates/Ideas --

 - Add the other code creating methods described in the "Super Nintendo Game
   Genie Handbook".
 - Add more "Convert" routines. Perhaps some to convert GG codes to CPU
address and back again. As well as a Goldfinger code converter.
 - Update the software to a more graphical "Windows" type look and feel, to
   make it easier to use.
 - Make a faster "Sort Database" function.
 - Add a "Search for Game" option in the Database "Read" option. And perhaps
a search function in the text reader in Help "MANUAL.TXT".
 - A way to select GG Code descriptions from a list to add it automatically
to a code effect in the Database. For example a pull-down menu with words
like "Infinite", "Player 1", "Player 2", "lifes", etc.
 - Database Fixer. Fixes corrupted Database files.
 - The ability to save the codes generated to a file. So when you go back to
create more codes for the same game you will not get any repeated codes.

 - Any ideas?? They are welcomed!

 Table Of Contents
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GG = Means the same as Game Genie. It is just simpler to write GG versus
        Game Genie all the time.

SNESGGCG = Is the name of this software in more or less short form. SNES
GG Code Generator or the complete name-- Super Nintendo Game
              Genie Code Generator

Any of the three are correct names of this software

1. Birth of this Software & Thanks
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This software was produced after a little more than 5 years of playing
with the idea for personal use then making the software into what it is
  today.

Many problems had to be addressed and fixed. Most of which were
programming limitations in QBasic and DOS.

This software has basically been re-written from scratch within the last 4
  months.

Many thanks go to Sam Volo CO-President of GGCCC. As well as the Game
  Genie Code Creators Club "GGCCC"
              http://www.videogamesource.com/genie/

Without his hard work and countless hours of research on the SNES GG, most
of what is known about the GG Codes, PAR Code Converting, and many other
  things would not be known.

The GG Code generating functions, the PAR converting function and printed
game code forms are based from the information released in earlier
versions of the "Super Nintendo Game Genie Handbook" written by Sam Volo.

With his full permission and blessing I am able to use the information
  gather by him. Thanks Sam!

Also many other people helped/contributed to the SNES GG information, many
thanks go to them as well.

        Roque Cabagnot (LrdRokoL@aol.com)
        Jack Weaver (strato508@aol.com)
        gervase@azstarnet.com
        starfox@earthcorp.com
        LuKaSX@aol.com
        Scmche19@mirage.skypoint.com
        mortimer_@hotmail.com

Yes, Everything in this software was done in QBasic. Of course there are
some calls in Assembly language-- Done through QBasic.

This software uses some freeware source code. Most of which has been
heavily modified, or has been completely re-written from the ideas I got
  from the source code.

Many thanks go to the ABC Archive and their contributors. They have a huge
archive of QBasic source code and FAQ's available to anyone.

  - A Mouse is Recommended; But is not required

This software has been tested on a 486-DX PC with 4 MB of Memory. As well
as a Pentium 166 with 32 MB of Memory.

This software will work on faster or slower PC's. This software does NOT
use EMS (Expanded) memory. So old PC's can use this software with at least
  640 KB of Memory available.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. General Usage Instructions
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Using the Program's Menu --

The menu can only be accessed when you are done with an option. For
example if you are reading codes in the Database you can not access the
menu until you exit the Database.

(Just remember you can only access the main menu when there are no open
     windows)

    Keyboard --

You can access the menu by pressing the ALT key on your keyboard and
using your arrow keys to select a option, then press enter.

Window Keyboard users can also use the Context key to access the menu,
then use your arrow keys to select a option, then press enter. (The
Context key shows a menu with a mouse pointer)

Also you can select a option by pressing the "Quick-Key". When a sub-
menu is showing you the options available, you will see a letter of
each option in a different color. Simply type that letter to access
      that option.

    Mouse --

Move your mouse to a menu then Left-Click to "open" it. Then move your
mouse to the option then Left-Click it.

  Entering Data --

For anyone who has never used DOS, here are some things that don't work--
TAB key does not go forward or back, there are no buttons to hit "OK".

What does work-- When you are prompted for information you enter the
information with the keyboard and when you are done press ENTER.

If you make a mistake use the BACKSPACE key to correct the mistake, only
    works before you press ENTER.

If you already pressed ENTER and made a mistake you can exit, by using
the ESC key at the next prompt. You will have to restart again.

And if you want to exit something press the ESC key.

    Please NOTE:

Many of the areas to enter data will NOT accept certain letters,
numbers, or symbols. For example you can not enter a letter when it
requests "Game Number". And you can't enter certain letters in the GG
code, for example letters "o", "p", "t", "r", etc. are NOT valid GG
      letters/numbers.

  Buttons --

    Keyboard --

For example you selected the "DATABASE" option "Read". You will see
buttons across the bottom colored yellow. They have brackets around
      them, like this < G - Game Number >

To "press" the button type in the letter from your keyboard that
matches the button letter. Like the example above you would press
"G" to select a game to read.

      Pressing a lower-case "g" is the same as pressing a upper-case "G"

If a button does not have a letter off to the side like the above
example < G - Game Number > but instead looks like this < Page Up >
then you would press that key, PAGE UP.

    Mouse --

Simply move the mouse to the button and Left-Click on it to "press"
      the button.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. "CREATE" GG Codes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  --------

The two methods below will create a GG code depending on the method you
  choose.

  --------

  Random --

Creates a Game Genie code by randomly picking GG Letters/Numbers to form
    a code.

This method is great for games with no codes, or for creating a wider
    variety of codes.

Required Input: Amount of codes to create. Anything from 1 up to 108
                    codes can be created.

    * Codes are automatically checked so there are no repeated codes.
    * You can Print out the created codes by selecting the
      < P - Print Codes > button.

  Grouped --

Creates a Game Genie code by picking GG Letters/Numbers from groups that
are ranked in popularity. Each code position varies, so each position
have their own groups. The groups contain all GG Letters/Numbers.

This method has a greater chance of creating a working code than
    Random.

Required Input: Amount of codes to create. Anything from 1 up to 108
                    codes can be created.

    * Codes are automatically checked so there are no repeated codes.
    * You can Print out the created codes by selecting the
      < P - Print Codes > button.

  --------

The below methods require a GG code to work with. If you do not have a GG
code then refer to the above methods.

  --------

  Altered --

Creates a Game Genie code by changing the first four positions in your
code to GG Letters/Numbers from groups. The groups are ranked in
popularity and each code position varies, so each position have their
own groups. The groups contain all GG Letters/Numbers.

This method creates the widest variety of codes from your original GG
    code.

Required Input: Amount of codes to create. Anything from 1 up to 108
codes can be created. Also a GG code to be entered.

      * Codes are automatically checked so there are no repeated codes.
      * You can Print out the created codes by selecting the
        < P - Print Codes > button.

  Slot --

Creates a Game Genie code by changing the first or the first two
positions in your code to GG Letters/Numbers from groups. The groups are
ranked in popularity and each code position varies, so each position
have their own groups. The groups contain all GG Letters/Numbers.

This method is used when you want to make a small change to your code.
For example your code is 'Start with 10 lifes' and you want more lifes.

Required Input: Amount of codes to create. Anything from 1 up to 108
codes can be created. Also a GG code to be entered.

    * Codes are automatically checked so there are no repeated codes.
    * You can Print out the created codes by selecting the
      < P - Print Codes > button.

  Modify --

Creates a Game Genie code by changing one position anywhere in your code
to GG Letters/Numbers from groups. The groups are ranked in popularity
and each code position varies, so each position have their own groups.
The groups contain all GG Letters/Numbers.

This method is used when you are looking for a new type of code.

Required Input: Amount of codes to create. Anything from 1 up to 108
codes can be created. Also a GG code to be entered.

    * Codes are automatically checked so there are no repeated codes.
    * You can Print out the created codes by selecting the
      < P - Print Codes > button.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. "CONVERT" Codes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Pro Action Replay (PAR) --

This will make Pro Action Replay (PAR) codes work with a Game Genie. This
is very handy when you want the effect the Pro Action Replay (PAR) code
does and do not have the GG code to do it.

Any Pro Action Replay (PAR) code that begins with 7E will NOT work on a
Game Genie. For example 7E8F5325 will not work.

This is because the Game Genie can only effect the games ROM and the
code 7E effects the games RAM. Only a Pro Action Replay (PAR) can effect
    the games RAM and ROM.

Required Input: A Pro Action Replay (PAR) code.

    * Input the Pro Action Replay (PAR) code without the colon :
    * You can Print out the converted codes by selecting the
      < P - Print Codes > button.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. GG Code "DATABASE"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Database Restrictions & Tips --

There MUST always be at least ONE game in that Database. Do NOT delete
the example "Game" until you add games of your own! If there are NO
games in the Database this software will not operate!

There are a few size restrictions in regards to a few aspects of the
    Database. Here they are...

    - The Game Name can not be longer than 28 characters in length
    - Each game Name can only hold a maximum of 30 codes
    - The Game GG code can only be the normal size 8 characters with a dash
and can only be valid GG letters/numbers Example: ABCD-EF01
    - The Code Description can not be longer than 24 characters in length

If a Game you want to add has more than 30 codes that is no problem.
Simply do something like this for example...

              Game name: Super Mario #1
Other Game name: Super Mario #2

If a Game has some instructions for the codes for example "Codes 1-5"
will not work with Code 6-10" then do something like this...

             0000-0000 Codes 1-5 Not Cmpat 6-10

The above example is exactly 24 characters in length

Just shrink the instructions done to something that is still readable,
otherwise entering them in will be worthless. You can take up as many
codes as needed to fit the instructions.

Just be sure to change the "GG code" slightly if you enter more than one
"code" of instructions per game. Otherwise whatever you do to one will
happen to the other as well, for example if you delete one of the
"codes". So do something like this 0000-000, 0000-0001, 0000-0002, etc.

  Database Check/Corruption --

When the software starts it will preform a check on the saved Database.
If there are any problems found it will tell you. Problems are usually
caused by someone trying to edit the Database file CODE.DAT by hand.
    This is NOT recommended!

If there is a problem with the Database, the Database menu will not be
available for use. It is highly recommended you create a Back-Up of your
Database file every so often. That way if a problem does happen, you
will have a Back-Up of your Database.

A corrupted Database can not be restored easily. You can restore a Back-
Up copy by overwriting the bad Database with your Back-Up. A corrupted
Database can be restored by anyone who knows how to read/use the
Database and has plenty of free time to try and track down the problem.

If you do decide to try and edit the Database file CODE.DAT by hand-- Be
Sure to create a Back-Up BEFORE you start! If the Database is already
corrupted do not worry about creating a Back-Up of it, it is already
corrupted so the Back-Up serves no real purpose.

  Read --

This will allow you to read the Games and Codes you have saved in the
database. Also you can print out the information by using the
    < P - Print Codes > button.

Required: Games and GG Codes saved in the Database.

  ------
  Sort --

This will allow you to manually sort the database. Sorting is done
alphabetically. This option is very handy to sort your database instead
of the Automatic sorts, when it becomes very large. (Somewhere around
    1000 Games).

Sorting can take a long time, depending on the amount of games and your
    computer speed.

If there is a problem and it is on the "Saving Sorted Database to a Temp
File..."-- Don't worry you saved Database will not be corrupted. It can
become corrupted on "Saving Sorted Database to Database File...".

Required: Games and GG Codes saved in the Database.

  ------
  Add New Games --

Adding new games is just part of creating a database that you enjoy and
use frequently if you play the Super NES with a Game Genie.

Required: Game Name to be added, A Code with a description.

If a Game you want to add has more than 30 codes that is no problem.
Simply do something like this for example...

              Game name: Super Mario #1
Other Game name: Super Mario #2

  Add New Codes --

Whenever you create a new code for a game or find new codes they can
easily be added to a game.

Games are limited to a total of 30 codes. (This is NOT a Shareware
    limitation)

If a Game you want to add has more than 30 codes that is no problem.
Simply do something like this for example...

              Game name: Super Mario #1
Other Game name: Super Mario #2

Required: A Code with a description, A Previously Saved Game to add to.

  --------
  Edit Codes --

If a mistake is made in a code or it's description it can easily be
    corrected.

Required: A Previously Saved Game with a code to edit

  --------
  Delete Games --

If a mistake is made in the Game Name or for whatever reason you no
longer want a Saved game, it can easily be removed from the database.

    Required: A Previously Saved Game

  Delete Codes --

For whatever reason, you decide you no longer want a code, you can
easily remove it from the database.

Required: A Previously Saved Game with Code

9. "HELP" & Settings
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  About --

This will tell you some general information about this software and some
information about people who helped in some way, create this program.

Read the MANUAL.TXT file for more information.

  ------
  Edit Settings --

This will allow you to customize this program. Many different Settings
can be changed. Many of the Settings can only be changed simply by
turning them ON or OFF -- YES or NO.

Read the MANUAL.TXT file for more information.

    Password Lock Program -

This option will require a password, that you entered, be entered
correctly otherwise this software will not operate. The password IS
case sensitive, so the password SNES is not the same as snes or Snes,
      etc.

You will be given three attempt to enter the correct password before
the program exits. When you type asterisks will be shown, not your
      password.

This is NOT a very secure option. It will merely add some protection
to your saved Database. This option will only keep out anyone that
can't figure out where to read this file, or anyone who doesn't try to
edit the CFG.DAT file by hand.

      To Require a Password --

Type in a password. Be sure to remember your password.

To Get rid of the Password --

You will be required to enter the correct password. After you enter
the correct password you will be prompted for a New
        password.

Instead of typing a New password simply press ENTER.

      To Change the Password --

You will need to enter the correct password. Then when prompted for
the New password, type in your New password and press ENTER.

      Forgotten Password/Additional Info --

The password is stored UNencrypted in the CFG.DAT file. It is
UNencrypted for many reasons. The main reason is so I don't have to
give support to users who forgot their passwords.

Now the first line in the CFG.DAT file is the password. Simply open
this file in a Text Editor. You can view the correct password.

Do NOT simply delete the password. You will get another error when
you run the program. There is a check for a sequence of symbols,
that tell the program there is no password.

This is a security method to prevent people from simply deleting the
        password.

Just simply start the program and enter the correct password. Or
type a new password in the place of the old password in the CFG.DAT
        file.

    Confirm Program Exit --

This option if selected "YES" will require you to confirm you want to
      exit the program.

To exit select "YES". Any other option closes the confirmation box and
      does not exit.

    Confirm Game Delete --

If this option is on "YES" then whenever you choose the option "Delete
Games" from the "Database" and choose a game to delete you will be
asked to confirm if you actually want to delete the game.

Choose "Yes" to delete the game or any other key not to delete it.

Having this setting on "YES" is a good idea. It will show you the game
name to delete so you know for sure what game it is going to
      delete.

All of the codes that belong to the Game are of course also deleted.

REMEMBER -- Any Game deleted can NOT be restored, no I can NOT restore
it either! Be absolutely certain you want the game gone, before you
      delete it.

Creating a Back-up copy of your saved Database regularly is a Great
idea! To do this copy the file CODE.DAT to a floppy disk or another
      directory.

    Confirm Code Delete --

If this option is on "YES" then whenever you choose the option "Delete
Codes" from the "Database" and choose a game to read and then choose a
code to delete you will be asked to confirm if you actually want to
      delete the code.

Choose "Yes" to delete the code or any other key not to delete it.

Having this setting on "YES" is a good idea. It will show you the code
description of the code to delete so you know for sure what code it is
      going to delete.

REMEMBER -- Any Code deleted can NOT be restored, no I can NOT restore
it either! Be absolutely certain you want the code gone, before you
      delete it.

Creating a Back-up copy of your saved Database regularly is a Great
idea! To do this copy the file CODE.DAT to a floppy disk or another
      directory.

Auto Sort After Game Delete --

If this is on "YES" the program will automatically sort your saved
Database once the game(s) are deleted.

The option is not necessarily needed. If your saved Database was
already sorted, removing game(s) will not effect the sorted order.

This is just an option where the choice is yours.

Auto Sort After Game Add --

If this is on "YES" whenever you add a new game to your saved Database
it will sort the Database, and that will put them in alphabetical
      order.

This is a very handy option. This way whenever you get done adding a
new game(s) the program will sort the Database automatically, rather
than you having to go to the "Database" menu and choosing "Sort
      Database" yourself.

Depending on the size of your saved Database and the speed of your
Computer it can take a long time to sort each time. So turning this
off "NO" will save you a lot of time. Of course your saved Database
will not be in alphabetical order.

    'Add Game' Duplicate Check --

With this option on "YES" whenever you Add a New Game to the Database
it will check the New game name with all the other game names in the
      Database.

If the New game name matches one found in the Database it will tell
you. Then you will have the option to Add a game with another name.
The game name you tried to enter is NOT saved.

If a Game you want to add has more than 30 codes that is no problem.
Simply do something like this for example...

              Game name Super Mario #1
Other Game name Super Mario #2

You can turn off "NO" this option, I strongly recommend this option
always on "YES". If you are thinking about turning it off "NO" --
      Please read the below Warning.

WARNING! -- Turning this option off "NO" and entering a Game name that
is already in the Database will have very bad results! The Database is
searched by game name, so whenever there are two games in the Database
with the same name whatever you do to the game will happen to the
      other game as well.

For example you add New codes to the game all games with the same name
will get the new codes. If you delete the game, all games with the
same name will be deleted. ETC.

There can also be other problems. Problems can range from the ones
mentioned above to just about anything.

  -------
  Quick Help

This will give you a 'Quick' description of the different things found
    in this program.

Read the MANUAL.TXT file for more information on any item.

  MANUAL.TXT

This will give you more information than the 'Quick Help' menu. It is
highly recommended that you read this file. It provides detailed
information about everything in this program, Errors, where to get
program updates, How to Register this program, How to contact me,
    everything.

This program will actually load the MANUAL.TXT file, and allow you to
read through it, without having to open another program. Currently you
    are viewing the MANUAL.TXT file.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. "EXIT" Program
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exit

Just as the name implies. When you are done with this program use the 'Exit'
menu to quit this program.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

11. Printing & Settings
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are using 8 1/2" by 11" paper you should not need to change any of
the default printer settings, except maybe the Printer Port (LPT).

If your Printer is not on Port number 1 then you will need to change it to
your port number. Do this go to the menu "HELP" and select "Edit
Settings". Then "Printer Port (LPT)" you can use the "Quick-Key" letter
"R" to select the setting. Then type in the port number your Printer is
  on, then press ENTER.

This program will print on any size paper 8 1/2" by 11" or larger. If you
have an older DOT Matrix printer or post-feed printer, the kind with the
holes on the sides of the paper, you can print as well-- (Usually the
paper is smaller than 8 1/2" by 11" due to the holes in the side of the
  paper)

I have successfully used my old DOT Matrix TRS-80 printer to print out
codes, hooked up to my newer computer. I adjusted the printer settings,
and made sure to use "Plain" characters. The older printer does not use
  ANSI characters.

Don't forget to Save the settings before exiting or Printing. It is "Quick-
Key" letter "S". (Updated Settings must be Saved before they take effect)

  Print Test Page --

This will print a test page that will tell you if you need to make any
    changes to the printer settings.

It will ask you for the amount of "Lines Per Page ( 65 ):" and the
    "Characters Per Line (85):".

It displays the 65 and 85 because they are the defaults used for
testing. Type in any number to test and press ENTER.

You will get a page that looks something like this....

    123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5

  Characters Per Line --

This is how many characters your printer can print on a single line.
Most printers print at 80 characters per line.

The minimum amount accepted by this software to print is at least 65
    characters per line.

Now to find out how many "Characters Per Line" you printer prints
out you need to count the number of digits and stopping at the last
    digit on the line.

For example each 0 is equal to 10 so count the number of 0's. There are
6 in the above example so that is 60. Then you count the digits after
the last 0 until you reach the end of the page.

Now you know how to find out how many "Characters Per Line" you printer can
print. Once you find out adjust the "Characters Per Line" setting
    according.

A common problem of too many characters, example of this problem is you
    get something like this...

Here is Line One of some text and now watch as the line disappears fro
      Here is Line Two

To fix this problem find out the total characters per line your printer
can print-- See above. Adjust the "Characters Per Line" setting until
    you get...

Here is Line One of some text and now watch as the line disappears
      from the page.
      Here is Line Two

  Lines Per Page --

How many lines can your printer print before starting a new page. Most
printers can print a total of 60 lines per page.

To find out how many "Lines Per Page" your printer can print refer to
the example above. You would count the number of lines until you reach
    the end of the page.

The example above you see numbers going down 1 thru 5, but you also see
the line of long digits. That line of long digits counts. So on the
example above you would get a total of 6.

In a actual test page you will probably get something like this...

    1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234
    567890123
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5

So in this example you count the lines 1 thru 5. Then you have two
lines of characters at top. They count as well so add them in. So you
would get 7 "Lines Per Page".

Once you find out, adjust the "Lines Per Page" setting according.

  ANSI or Plain Characters --

Almost all printers print ANSI characters.

There is a ANSI character test printed on the test page as well. It is
    on lines 10, 11, and 12.

If your printer can print ANSI characters you will see a nice box. The
box will be Double-lined at the Top and Bottom of the box. With a
single line on the Left and Right side.

If you see the box described your printer can print ANSI characters if
you don't see the box but instead see some weird looking characters or
something else your printer can only print "Plain" characters.

Once you find out what characters your printer can print then adjust the
"ANSI Or Plain Characters" setting according.

  Left Spacing --

This is used if your printer is printing the text off the page, on the
left. If you are getting only part of the codes or other problems,
adjust this to fix the problem.

Enter a number in to tell the program how many characters to move over
    before printing.

For example your printer prints this...

        34567890

You would adjust the Left Spacing setting to 2 so you would get this...

        1234567890

  Top Spacing --

If you printer is printing above the top of the page adjust this setting
to make the program move the page down until you get the text printed on
    the page correctly.

Enter a number to tell the printer how many lines to move down the page
    before printing.

    For example your printer prints...

        Second Line
        Third Line

You would adjust the Top Spacing setting to 1 so you get this...

        First Line
        Second Line
        Third Line

  Bottom Spacing --

If your printer is printing the second page on the first page (A common
problem on post-feed printers, with holes on the side of the paper).

To fix this change this setting to the amount of lines to move the paper
at the end of the page.

For example you get something printed like this...

        Last Line
        First Line
        ------------------------- (End Of Page)
        Second Line

You would adjust the Bottom Spacing setting to 1 so you get...

        Last Line
        ------------------------- (End Of Page)
        First Line
        Second Line

  Printer Port (LPT) --

This is what port your printer is hooked up to your PC. If your not sure
you can try printing a page on LPT Port number 1. If that doesn't work
    try LPT Port number 2.

Windows 95 or Higher users can do this to find out their Printer Port
    number--

Click on "START". Goto "SETTINGS" and Left-Click on "PRINTERS". Now
Right-Click on your printer ICON, and choose "PROPERTIES" by
      Left-Clicking.

Look for Something like "Print to the Following Port:". I found mine
under the "DETAILS" tab and mine for example says "LPT 1: (Printer
      Port)".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. Using the Printed Codes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you decide to print the Created codes (Random, Grouped, ETC.),
Converted Pro Action Replay (PAR) codes, or your saved game codes
(Available under the Database "Read") the codes are printed on a useful
  form.

The form can be used for easy reference to codes you have tested. Also it
creates some organization to the sometimes "messy" world of code creating.

After actual use of testing codes and using this form, your wonder how you
ever created codes without something like this!

How to use the Form --

At the top of the printed page will be a box. Inside the box it will
describe some information about the codes on the page.

    Game System --

This will always read "Super NES", it simply tells you what video game
      system these codes are for.

    Code Method --

This will tell you how/from where the codes came from. For example it
could say "Random Codes", "Saved Game", "Converted PAR Codes", etc.

This is simply so you know how the codes were created. It can become
useful after using the program for a while, you will know what methods
      work best for you.

    Date --

Just to tell you when you created them. That way you will actually
know when you created a code.

    Game Name Tested --

There will be a blank to the side of this, that is for you can write
in the actual game name the codes were tested on. So at a later date
you still know what game the codes work on.

If you printed out a Saved Game (From the Database "Read" option) it
will automatically print out the name of the game the codes go to.

    Page Number --

This only really applies to Registered Users, who can print more than
      10 codes.

If you are a Registered User this will keep track of your pages. That
way if your code papers get mixed up or whatever you can put them back
      together correctly.

    ------
    GG Code --

Underneath this column you will see all the GG codes printed.

    Effect --

If this is a created code and it produces a effect you will write in
the effect on the blank line next to the code.

If you printed a game from the Database it will automatically fill this
      in with the information.

    Final --

Only applies to created codes, other printing types will not print
      this out.

If the code you tested produced a effect you would put a check in
      this area.

    Black --

Only applies to created codes, other printing types will not print
      this out.

If the game screen is black, or something other than normal, or during
game play the game freezes, etc. You would put a check in this area.

A code that falls into this category is a working code. Usually after
modifying the code it will produce actual effects

    None --

Only applies to created codes, other printing types will not print
      this out.

If the code appears to not have any effect or do nothing to the game
      you would check this area.

13. Code Creating Tips
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The information below is directly taken from the "Super Nintendo Game
Genie Handbook", version. 6.61, Part 6 and Part 9.

  Patience is a Virtue --

Finding GG Codes is not an easy job. It takes a lot of time and
patience. Following the list below will help make your code programming
    experience more enjoyable.

  1. Do not work for more than an hour in finding codes. That is a major
cause of stress. If you are going to work more than an hour, take a
fifteen minute break for every hour you work on codes.

  2. Turn the game music down and play some other music (music you like).
Listening to the same tune over and over will drive you crazy.

  3. Make yourself comfortable, but not too much. Being too comfortable
might cause you to fall asleep!

  4. Turn the brightness of your TV down. Looking at a bright screen too
long is not good for your eyes. It also puts you to sleep.

  5. Have something else to do while you are looking for codes so you don't
      get bored too fast.

  6. Most importantly, do not get mad when you can't find codes... chances
are you may have even worse luck. You are a better programmer when
you are not mad or stressed.

  7. If you have more than one GG, use it. Using more than 1 GG is helpful
because it increases the amount of codes you can enter each time.
But, don't use more than 3 GG's. Using more than 3 GG's will only
      serve to confuse you.

  Effect Meter --

The Game Genie uses an effect meter to determine the extremity of the
first two positions. This is in the manual, but is also reprinted below
    for convenience.

Example: DAFFY DUCK: THE MARVIN MISSIONS GAME
                       DBBD-1DA4 Start with 9 lives
                       49BD-1DA4 Start with 25 lives
                       17BD-1DA4 Start with 99 lives

    The meter is below:

    --------------------------------------------------------------
    D F 4 7 0 9 1 5 6 B C 8 A 2 3 E
    Smallest Effect Biggest Effect
    --------------------------------------------------------------

    NOTES:
    ------

Some games might reverse the Effect Chart. For instance, there are some
codes for Final Fantasy II in which "D" will produce the largest effect
    and "E", the smallest.

The effects chart is actually an encoding system for hex numbers. This
concept is explained further in the "advanced" section.

Now that you have "working" codes (or if you already have codes), you'll
probably want to alter them so something cool happens. The charts and
examples below will help you figure out what you are doing.

  Beyond The Basics --

If you are looking for more ways to create/alter codes I would highly
recommend you take a look at the "Super Nintendo Game Genie Handbook"
    written by Sam Volo.

It can be found on the Game Genie Code Creators Club GGCCC at
             http://www.videogamesource.com/genie/

I will add a lot more code creating methods in the future of this
software. So stay tuned for new code creating methods.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

14. Program Errors
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the program exits and prints a message to the screen, simply follow
  the instructions.

For example the program quit and the screen now says..

No Printer found on specified Port!

Please change the setting 'Printer Port (LPT)'
      to your Printers Port.

      Error Code 25

The problem is that there is not a printer available on the Printer Port
(LPT). To fix this problem you would go to the menu "HELP" and select
"Edit Settings". Then "Printer Port (LPT)" you can use the "Quick-Key"
letter "R" to select the setting. Then type in the port number your
Printer is on, then press ENTER.

Most computers have the Printer on Port 1.

Don't forget to Save the settings before exiting. It is "Quick-Key" letter
  "S".

If you have done what the screen says or it simply says something like

A program Error has occured -- Error Code 4

Try restarting the program and repeat what you were doing when you got the
error. Most times simply restarting the program will get rid of the
  problem if one occurs.

If you are still getting the same problem contact me. Be sure to tell me
what you were doing when the error happened and what the screen printed.
Most importantly the Error Code number.
