SLY'S HANGMAN AND SLY'S SPELLER PROGRAMMED BY:
Sam Campbell III (aka Slyfoot)

REQUIREMENTS:
MS-DOS/Win3.x/Win9x/WinME/Win2k/WinXP

ABOUT SLY'S HANGMAN:
Sly's Hangman (SLYHANG.EXE) is just a basic hangman game--no frills, no bells
and no whistles. I wrote it mainly because I was bored, and also because
I noticed that most of the hangman games out there do not allow you to use
a custom wordlist. Sly's Hangman reads from the file WORDLIST.TXT, which
contains 14,422 words. The game is straightforward: try to guess the words
by choosing different letters from the alphabet, or you swing by the neck
from the gallows (or is it a gibbet?) You can choose to play using 6 tries
or 9 tries. The game will tell you how many times you've won and lost, and
you can exit at any time by pressing the Escape key.

ABOUT SLY'S SPELLER
Sly's Speller (SLYSPELL.EXE) is a "non-violent" educational program to help
the young and old improve their spelling. You can choose to play the game
with hints or without hints, and it keeps track of wins and losses. I added
this game for people who want to create lists of spelling words in the word
list file WORDLIST.TXT for spelling practice.

LIMITATIONS:
The game is designed to accept single words, not phrases! While you can use
custom wordlists, I have not really done much file format checking, so if you
use a bizarre WORDLIST.TXT then you can expect to get bizarre results. The
games DO account for apostrophes and periods. You can use contractions or
foreign language words that require apostrophes, or abbreviations like "Mr."
and "Dr." and the game will automatically display the apostrophe or period.
However, the game does not use hyphens. Other than that I can't think of any
real limitations.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
The WORDLIST.TXT file included with Sly's Hangman is from Timo Salmi's handy
standalone DOS spellchecker Tschek (TSCHEK.ZIP). I modified it so that the
word list would not include any words with less than 4 letters or more than
20 letters. By the way, if you'd like to play a different game of hangman,
I suggest Timo Salmi's Hangman which can be downloaded from the Garbo
Archives at http://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/ts.html in the file named TSGMEE13.ZIP

LICENSE:
Sly's Hangman and Sly's Speller are FREEWARE. They may not be sold for any
reason. Copy them all you want. Reverse engineer them if you really feel you
must. If you'd like to contact me with comments about the game, you can send
an email to me at slyfoot@gmail.com (Or, you can send a comment to Slyfoot at
LiveJournal.)

SPECIAL THANKS:
Thanks to raynala and zenmondo from LiveJournal for their encouragement and
tips on making the games better. Also, thanks to zenmondo for demonstrating
to me that "lynx" is quite possibly the greatest hangman word EVER.
