Cedict is a project based on the principles from the famous Edict project. The goal is to create free downloadable dictionary files. The files are normal .txt files.

What we at EuroAsiaSoftware have done is to create some software's that read this file and creates databases . We have also added features like made it possible to view the result with characters in both simplified and traditional form. The program is free to use but we would appreciate if contribute to the Cedict project. Read more about the Cedict project from the "About" menu.

To make it easy to do this we have added Internet forms for you to fill out and send to us. Se the menu "Internet"

Search in the database:
 

To search, you enter a word in English or pinyin (if pinyin, write with tone, e.g. ta1 ( 1 represents the tone one, put it always in the end of the word, e.g. zhong1 guo2)). Press enter to perform the first search. If you want to search only for words with the exact spelling, press "Exact spelling". If you press one more time at any of the buttons you will search for next word.

As standard, the simplified form is used for every search. to se the traditional form, press the button "Traditional form".
