  • This section describes how a user can install the client onto their PC. The system administrator must have already installed the server.

    1. Mapping the drive on the Clients Machine

    1. Mapping the drive on the Clients Machine

    Goto the client PC where the client will be installed and MAP to the server drive
    The path should be [server]\netdata\public\ and map to the drive N:
    To do this, open explorer and click the 'Map Network Drive' button on the toolbar.

    Enter the text \\server\d\netdata\public in the map to area (where 'server' is the name of the computer where you are mapping to)

    Enter N: as the drive letter to map, and click OK

    2. Install the Client

    Go to the newly mapped drive N: and run SETUP.EXE to install the client program in the N:\tools\ directory
    When installing the client, use the default directory of
    C:\Program Files\acute\netDiary\

    3. Configure the Client

    1. run the ClientSetup.exe program - this will configure the clients settings. Screen shot

    a) choose a local path to keep the clients datafile - the default directory is fine
    b) choose the network datapath. - this must be the path that the server configured
    e.g. N:\users\[yourname]
    c) Any options regarding the toolbar option can be changed by clicking 'Infolink' button

    d) You can change the options of the main diary program by clicking 'Main'

    4. Starting the Client Software


    When you restart the computer the Infolink program will start automatically
    You can start it manually by going to the Start Menu -> Program Files -> Acute Software -> InfoLink

    It should say "Checking Server..."

    Then say "InfoLink - Network" once it has connected to the server

    If the server is not running, or hasnt been configured, it will say

    InfoLink - No Server, or InfoLink - Local
