USING THE DATA VIEWER

The Data Viewer – the large navy blue display on the bottom right of the Launcher window – is perhaps the most powerful part of the Harbor Audio Manager. This interactive display is your window to the entire inventory of audio files on your system or network, provided in a form unequaled in ease or range of function by any other file exploration tool.

The Data Viewer provides five basic screens (“views”) for viewing the contents of your audio file inventory, a sophisticated, easy to use search tool for searching your audio file inventory and custom inventory database, the ability to print hardcopy of any of your views or search results to your Windows printer, and the ability to quickly play any audio file on your system or network.

THE DATA VIEW DISPLAY

The display of the Data Viewer consists of the following parts:

View Title
Identifies which of the five data view types is currently displayed.

View Description
Identifies specifically what is being detailed in the display (e.g. which file is detailed in the File Detail view, which types of files are listed in the Inventory Detail view, etc.)

Data Display
The main body of the Data Viewer where the requested information is actually displayed.

Status messages
This is where Harbor displays any messages to the user regarding the current status of any processes regarding the Data Viewer such as database searches, inventory updates, print requests and so forth (Fig. 11 has no status messages currently displayed.)

Navigation and control buttons
These buttons provide control of the Data Viewer display and functions. Use them to switch between data views, to print a hard copy of the current display, to play a detailed file, or to update any of the displayed inventory data.
