ADDING
FILES TO LAUNCH GROUPS
Once you have added
one or more launch groups to your Launch Groups
tool, you are ready to populate
them with actual audio files for future launching.
NOTE:
Audio files in the LaunchGroups tool can only be added to custom
launch groups, not to the “Groups” anchor
itself. If you wish to
have launch access to independent audio files not in a launch group, use
the QuickLauncher tool.
To add a file to a
launch group, right-click on that group entry, and select “Add File”
from the pop-up menu.
This will display
the "Add New File to Group" form. This form has two pieces of
information to enter, “New caption” and “New file/path”. At the
top it tells you which launch group you are adding the file to (in this
example, a file is being added to the “Sound FX” group.)
New caption
This is where you
type in a “nickname” or caption by which you wish to identify the
file in the display. For
example, if you wish to add the sound effect file of a car crashing to
this group, you might give it the caption “Car crash” (you do not
need to type the quotation marks.)
New file/path
This is where you
type in the whole path and file name for the actual audio file
associated with this entry.
Browse button
If you do not wish
to type the file path and name manually, or are not sure of the exact
file path or name, you may click the “Browse” button located just to
the right of the file/path field to pop up a standard Windows “file
dialog box”, which allows you to browse your system’s (or
network’s) drives and folders for the audio file you wish.
When you find and select the desired file, the dialog box will
disappear and the selected file name will appear in the file/path field
When done, click
“OK” to save the new information to the Launch
Groups tool. To back
out without adding any new information, click “Cancel.
