MOVING (ARRANGING) GROUPS AND FILES
IN THE LAUNCH GROUPS DISPLAY

There are two basic and easy methods for changing the order or location of launch groups and launch files: dragging and dropping of individual launch entries, and using the Position controls found at the top of the LaunchGroups tool.

Whenever you move a launch group, any sub-groups or launch file contained within that group will move with it.

DRAG AND DROP

You can move launch groups from the anchor group to other launch groups or between parent launch groups, as well as move launch files from one group to another quickly and easily through “drag and drop”.

To drag an entry from one group to another, left-click on that entry, holding the left mouse button down while moving the mouse cursor to the group in which you want the entry to reside (in standard Windows parlance, this is called “dragging”.)

When you have dragged the entry to its new parent group, release the mouse button to “drop” the entry in its new home.

You can drop the entry right on the group itself or “inside” any file listings for that group. Either way, the dragged item will still become a member of that group.

Items can be dragged into a launch group regardless of whether that group is displayed as “open” or “closed”.

Dragged items become the first item listed for that group. To re-arrange the order of groups or files in the display, use the LaunchGroups tool’s Position controls.

POSITION CONTROLS

To re-order the position of launch groups and launch files in the LaunchGroups display, use the dual Position controls located at the top of the LaunchGroups tool.

The Position controls consists of two buttons; one “Down”, and one “Up”. They are used for moving a launch entry’s position in the display down or up.  
 

To use them, highlight the launch entry (either group or file) that you want to move by left-clicking it. Then click on either the Down or Up Position control to move the highlighted entry one position in that direction.

You can “walk” highlighted entries through long lists of its sibling entries by repeatedly clicking the appropriate direction control until you get the entry just where you want it.

The Position controls will move launch entries only among its “sibling” entries (entries that reside within the same launch group, or “parent” group.) For example, if you walk a launch file up to the top of the list of files in a particular launch group, the Up Position button will move that file no farther; it will not take it into the launch group above it.

Use the drag and drop method described above to move launch groups or files into another group.
