REGISTERING YOUR SOFTWARE

The free copy of Harbor Audio Manager that is distributed and installed is a trial version of the software. This means that while it is fully functional, it is programmed to operate for a 14-day trail period, during which time you can test it out for yourself to see if you like it. If you do decide you like the software and wish to keep using it (in which case you are obviously a very smart person of excellent taste ;), you can do so by registering and purchasing your copy of the software via Harbor's built-in Software Registration tool and the SouthSIDE website.

THE SOFTWARE REGISTRATION TOOL

Accessing the Software Registration tool
Harbor's built-in Software Registration tool make it easy for you to register your software, in turn converting your trial copy of Harbor into permanently installed software for your continued use.

You can access the Registration tool anytime you run Harbor by clicking on the Launcher window's "Tools/ Preferences" button to display Harbor's Tools and Preferences menu. From this menu, click on the "Load Registration Form" button to run the Registration tool.

Anytime during your 14-day trial period you have an even faster shortcut to the Registration screen. During this period, you can simply click on the "Register Now" button located at the bottom of Harbor's initial title screen that displays whenever you launch the Harbor program from Windows.

If your 14-day period has expired and you still have not registered your copy of Harbor, when you try launching Harbor from Windows, you will see only a message box warning you that your copy has expired. This message box has an "OK" and a "Cancel" button. Click "OK" to launch the Registration tool. Click "Cancel" to exit Harbor.

The Software Registration tool is a single screen divided into three stacked sections, Software Info, User Info, and the Registration Area.
The top "Software Info" box is a read-only display that shows the name of the software, it's version number and the current registration status.

The middle of the screen is where you type in your name, e-mail address and (optionally) company name. This identifies to whom your copy of Harbor will be registered.

The bottom section of the screen is where you paste in the Registration Key that will be e-mailed to you once you have completed your registration and payment process with us. This registration key is what "unlocks" your copy of Harbor for use beyond the trial period.

REGISTERING AND PURCHASING HARBOR

Registering and purchasing your installed copy of Harbor to turn it from a 14-day trial version to a permanently registered copy is a simple process:

Step 1: Enter your user info
Enter your name, e-mail address and (optionally) company name into Harbor's Registration tool and copy this information to the registration form on our website. Once entered, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button. This will copy all information required to register Harbor to your computer's clipboard memory for use in Step 2.

NOTE: You must enter your information into the "Name" and "E-mail address" fields. The "Copy to Clipboard" will not be enabled until these fields are filled out. The e-mail address must be a valid e-mail address, as it is the address to which SouthSIDE will e-mail your registration key that unlocks your software for use beyond the trial period; put in an incorrect e-mail address, and you will not receive your key.
  The "Company" field, on the other hand, is optional. If you are buying Harbor for personal use, you may leave this field blank.

NOTE: You also must use the "Copy to Clipboard" function to move your registration information out of Harbor, as it copies several important pieces of information that are required for successful registration -- not all of which are directly visible from the Registration screen.

Step 2: Register on the web
Once you have copied your registration info to the clipboard, use your favorite web browser to surf to Harbor's home website: www.southsidemultimedia.com. Select the link on that website for "Software Registration", and follow its instructions to Harbor's registration page.

When you reach the field on that page in which you are told to paste the registration information from your installed copy of Harbor, press [Ctrl][V] on your keyboard to paste the info you copied to your clipboard in Step 1.

Follow the rest of the instructions on the SouthSIDE website for completing the online registration and payment.

SouthSIDE will verify your registration and payment information and generate a custom "Registration key" for your copy of Harbor. This key will be sent to you via e-mail to the address you specified in the Registration tool.

Step 3: Unlock Harbor with your registration key
Paste the registration key from the e-mail message into the corresponding field at the bottom of Harbor's registration tool. This will activate the "Register with Key" just under it. Click on that button to register Harbor.

If you are not sure how to paste like that, the e-mail will tell you how.

Click "OK" to exit the Registration tool, and you are set to go!
