THE "DEFAULT BROWSE PATH" SETTING

This box on the left side of the Tools/Preferences menu allows you to set the default directory on your system or network that will initially be displayed whenever Harbor calls up a standard Windows file dialog screen (a.k.a. “dialog box”.)

This default setting applies to the file dialog boxes displayed when clicking Harbor’s many “Browse” buttons and the one displayed when adding a music file to a playlist in the Playlist Editor.

Exception to the Default Browse Path setting
There are two locations where this setting should not -- and therefore does not -- apply.

The first exception is the “Browse” button located in the “Waveform Editor” box of the Tools/Preferences form itself; the default directory for that button is “C:\Program Files”, in order to facilitate the majority of Windows-platform software installations.

The second exception is the “Save Playlist” button on the Playlist Editor. The initial directory for its file dialog box will correspond to the current directory of the playlist being saved.

If you have not configured a particular default browse path yet, or if the previously configured browse path no longer physically exits on your system, the default browse path will be “C:\”.

Setting the Default Browse Path
The top gray read-only display line in the Default Browse show what the current default browse path is set to.

To select your own favorite default, choose the proper drive for the path first using the drop-down drive list located just below the read-only “current path” display. This will display an Explorer-style directory listing for that drive underneath it.

Click through the directory listing for that drive until you find the one you want is open and displayed in the “current path” display on top.

As is the convention on all of Harbor’s configuration screens, the text in the “current path” display turns red to indicate that it has been changed but not yet saved. Clicking on the menu’s “OK” or “Apply” buttons saves all settings on the menu screen ad returns them to their normal colors.
