THE INVENTORY DETAIL VIEW

The Inventory Detail view of Harbor's Data Viewer displays a list of audio files in your inventory based upon selection criteria you provide.

There are two ways you can get an Inventory Detail listing: clicking on one of the inventory counts from the System Inventory view, or performing a custom keyword search on your inventory and user database.

You can return to this view from other views at any time by clicking on the “Detail” button. If you have not generated any Inventory Detail views since you last started the Harbor application, clicking the “Detail” button will generate a default Inventory Detail listing of all audio files in your inventory.

The Description field at the top indicates the search or selection criteria you used to generate the file list.

Inventory Detail listings resulting from a click from the System Inventory view are sorted alphabetically by drive and filename. Listings resulting from user keyword searches of the databases are sorted by strength of search match (see “Hits column”, below.)

Clicking in the Inventory Detail view
Like the System Inventory grid, the Inventory Detail listing is also clickable/interactive. Clicking on any of the rows in the Inventory Detail listing (regardless of column) will “drill down” the detail of view even further.

If the Inventory Detail view is displaying a list of audio files (either from a System Inventory grid click or as the result of a database search), left-clicking on a file will display a File Detail view for the clicked file.

Right-clicking on an audio file in the Inventory Detail view will immediately display its File Detail view and automatically play the file. Right-clicking on an audio file is therefore a fast and easy shortcut to playing back or previewing any file in your inventory.

If the view is displaying a list of playlist files (generated by clicking on a non-zero value in the “Lists” column of the System Inventory grid), Harbor will load the Harbor Playlist Editor tool window with the clicked playlist file pre-loaded into its playlist editor display.

"DB" Column
This column indicates those files in the listing for which you have entered custom information in your custom user database. The files which have a “>>” symbol in this column have user database entries.

Clicking on this (or any) column in the Inventory Detail listing will display a File Detail view for the file in the clicked row.

"Drv" column
This column indicates on which drive the listed file is located.

Clicking on this (or any) column in the Inventory Detail listing will display a File Detail view for the file in the clicked row.

"File" column
This column displays the path and name of the listed file. If the full path name for the file is too long to fit into the display, the path will be shortened for the best fit.  You can view the full-length path name for any file in all its glory by simply placing your mouse over the file listing; the full pathname will automatically appear as your mouse cursor's pop-up tool tip.

Clicking on this (or any) column in the Inventory Detail listing will display a File Detail view for the file in the clicked row.

"Hits" column
This column (not shown in Fig. 14) is displayed only on Inventory Detail views generated as a result of custom keyword searches, and shows how strongly the listed file matches your search keyword(s). Higher “hit” numbers indicate potentially better matches.

Inventory Detail views that include this “Hits” column are sorted by number of hits, highest numbers first.

The "Update" button
Clicking the “Update” button while in the Inventory Detail view refreshes the current Inventory Detail display.
