---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overview:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The main purpose of Duax Pro is to sound an audible alarm whenever an Internet dial-up connection is established or broken. It is especially useful if you have more than one computer connected in a local area network and sharing a single modem. Without an audible alarm one of the computers (the ones without the modem) might establish unintentional and unnoticed modem connections. Optionally Duax Pro will play a sound at preset intervals to remind you that the modem is still online, always or only when the connection is idle.

A simplified implementation with fewer features (no easy way to modify the soundfiles, no logging, no connection statistics, no dial function, no configuration options) is also available as freeware under the name Duax 98 Lite. It can be downloaded at http://emdem.tripod.com, at http://www.geocities.com/emdem.geo and at several software sites or by FTP at Simtel.Net .

This software requires Windows 95 or higher, a soundcard, a dial-up modem and an Internet connection. It will run under Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP but the connection speed will not be available.

Installation:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installation is automatic: just double click on Setup.exe.
However, for the program to start automatically each time you boot your computer, you should put a shortcut to it in your Startup group.

Logfile: The logging options of versions v1.4 and later are not compatible with the logfiles of earlier versions. If you are upgrading from an older version than 1.4 you should first delete your old logfile or rename it to "Duax98Pro.old" or something similar if you want to keep it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uninstalling:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only uninstall using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel or click the Uninstall icon in the Duax program group. Remove the shortcut from the Startup group.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usage:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Duax Pro is running (it normally is as soon as you boot the computer unless you clicked the Exit button) it will automatically start up whenever a modem connection to the Internet is established.

Clicking on the "Hide" button minimizes the application and a flashing telephone will then be visible in the system tray as long as the modem is online.

Left clicking on the phone icon in the system tray restores the application to its normal size.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Duax Pro is shareware and can be used for evaluation purposes during a period of 15 days.
Afterwards the registration fee of 15 US$ must be paid or you must stop using the product and the software must be removed from the computer.

Registration can be done online. Install the software and click the "Register now..." button.

Distribution of the unregistered version is free provided no charge is made and all files in this package are included (including this one).
