Description:
IndexAssistant helps you use Microsoft Word to index a manuscript. To index a manuscript in Word, you mark your document with special field codes called index entries. You then use Word to generate an index on the basis of your markings.

IndexAssistant helps you with the marking phase. It replaces Words index entry dialogue with an intelligent and powerful interface that makes it easy to: maintain and apply a consistent set of index entries; mark ranges of pages; consolidate single page index entries into ranges; navigate and edit index entries in your document; and maintain cross references.

With the help of IndexAssistant, you can use a fast index turnaround strategy. Construct, check and proof your index in your Word documentbefore you receive your galleys. When you receive your galleys, insert page breaks in your Word document so that its pagination matches that of your galleys. Then have Word regenerate your index. Your turnaround time can be as little as one day, from your publishers point of view.

IndexAssistant is shareware. It costs $10. The website is http://jambient.com/indexassistant/.
